  • 1 GENERAL PROVISIONS
  1. Personal data is protected pursuant to applicable law, and data is stored on secured servers.
  2. The terminology used herein shall be interpreted in accordance with the glossary included in the Terms of Service, or in line with the descriptions contained in the Privacy Policy (if an interpretation arises directly from a description).
  3. To improve the reception of this Privacy Policy, the term "User" has been replaced with "You", and "Administrator" – with "We".
  4. We respect your right to privacy and ensure that your data is secure. To that end, we use such solutions as the SSL protocol.
  5. The data provided in the registration form by a person creating a CURAÇAO PETS user account are treated as classified and will not be accessible to unauthorized parties.

 

  • 2 DATA CONTROLLER
  1. The service provider is the Data Controller of its customers' data. This means that, if you have a CURAÇAO PETS account, your personal data such as your first and last name, email address, telephone number and registered office address will be processed by us.
  2. Personal data are processed:
  3. pursuant to the relevant personal data provisions,
  4. Every data subject (whose data we are the Controller of) has the right to access their data or correct them, the right to object and the right to submit a complaint to us.

  6. We reserve the right to process your personal data after the Agreement is terminated or your consent is withdrawn only within the scope necessary to pursue any claims before a court or if it is obligatory for us to do so under national, or international law.
  7. We have the right to share your personal data and your other data with authorized parties (e.g. law enforcement), pursuant to applicable law.
  8. We do not share personal data with other parties, with the exception of parties authorized by applicable law.
  9. We have implemented data encryption and access control, which allows us to minimize the negative consequences of a potential data breach.
  10. Personal data is only processed by personnel authorized by us or processors with which we are partnered.

 

  • 3 PERSONAL DATA PROCESSING
  1. Chipping your pets and also registering this microchips in this national database is now required by law per the Animal welfare Act introduced per January 1st, 2023. Refusal to adhere to this, or providing incomplete data will not only render it impossible to properly use the functionalities offered by CURAÇAO PETS but it will also not be adhering to the law.
  2. Creating an Account requires you to provide identifiable information. Such data include personal or organization name, identification number, email address, mailing address, and telephone number.
  3. CURAÇAO PETS exclusively collects and stores personal data of persons/entities using the following services:
    - User Account registration
    - Database Account registration
    - Using the REPORT LOST PET functionality

We do not collect, store or process the personal data of owners of electronically marked animals who register their animals in other databases. Such data are available exclusively to the other local or international databases, and do not adhere to the law of registration on this national database.

  1. All personal data are collected over the course of activities related to the following services offered by CURAÇAO PETS
    - using the functionalities offered by CURAÇAO PETS (including the process of transferring certain animal data stored in national database registries)
    - concluding and executing service agreements concluded via the website or email
    - conveying information on changes in the terms of service
    - handling complaints
    - sending and receiving correspondence
    - drafting agreement documentation
    - handling User requests
    - contacting Users, including for the purpose of rendering services
    - ensuring service security, counteracting fraud and abuse
    - storing data for archival purposes and to ensure accountability (being able to prove that STICHTING DIERENBESCHERMING CURAÇAO has fulfilled all legal obligations imposed on it)

 

  • 4 DATA SECURITY

In order to secure Users' personal data from being accessed by unauthorized parties, collected by unauthorized individuals, processed in violation of applicable provisions and changed, lost, damaged or destroyed, we use technical and organizational measures which ensure that the protection of the personal data processed by us that are adequate to the level of threat and the category of data subject to protection. The Data Controller uses primarily technical measures which prevent personal data from being collected or modified by unauthorized parties. The Data Controller secures data sets from being accessed by unauthorized subjects and ensures that a User's account can only be accessed after completing the authentication process, which involves entering an individual login and password. In addition, data entered by Users in the process of filling out and submitting online forms are encrypted using SSL certificates.

 

  • 5 COOKIE FILES
  1. The CURACAOPETS.COM website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files sent by a www server and stored by the browser on your PC. When a browser opens a page for a second time, the website recognizes the device used to connect to it. The parameters of cookie files make it possible for only the server which created them to read the information contained inside. Cookies make using already visited websites easier.
  2. The data collected includes your IP address, type of browser, language, operating system, ISP, date and time data, location data and information sent to the website via the contact form.
  3. The data collected are used to monitor and assess how Users use our websites in order to improve our service and ensure more effective and smooth navigation. User data is monitored using Google Analytics, which registers User behavior on the website.
  4. Cookies help identify Users, rendering it possible to adjust the content of the website to their needs. By remembering User preferences, they enable the displaying of custom advertisements. We use cookies to improve the comfort of using our site, and the data we collect is exclusively used by STICHTING DIERENBESCHERMING CURAÇAO to optimize our operations.
  5. You may disable or re-enable cookie files at any time by changing your
